Krelitser, officially the Republic of Krelitser is a country in the central and northern area of Thentey. With over 120 million people, Krelitser is the largest and most populous country in Thentey, and eleventh most in the world. It is a moderately urbanised country, with population mostly concentrated in regional capitals in the southern areas, and extremely concetrated in a few cities in the northern areas.
Human settlement on the territory of modern Krelitser dates back to the Lower kys era. The Kronthey emerged as a distinct group in Thentey between the 11th and 12th centuries EC. The early Kronthey tribes centralised into early states in the periphery of the Negewians.
The Principality of Kirathara would go on to unite most of the region by the 20th century, eventually taking the title of kingdom. Dynastic conflicts in the 23th century tore the kingdom to pieces, and invited several partitions of the kingdom's former territory. Several states left in the wake of the dissolution came to recognise a shared leader, and formed the Krelitser League, which by the 25th century, had taken control over most of the former territory of the kingdom. In 2490, the league would formally centralise into the Republic of Krelitser. By the early 27th century, Krelitser had vastly expanded through conquest, annexation, and the efforts of Krelit explorers, becoming and remaining the third-largest empire in history.
Krelitser began industrialising in the mid 30th century, becoming a major exporter of raw minerals. After disasterous failure in the Third Krelitser-Otse war, Krelitser introduced labour reforms to quell domestic unrest. Internal pressure over the loss led to a large reform and centralisation of the Krelitserian military.
Etymology
Krelitser is a scholasticisation of the Krelit word name, Krėlıtse. Usage of the name dates back to before the Kingdom of Krelitser. Etymologically, Krėlıtse comes from the Proto-Dardnish krols₁, meaning "heart". The Mazarean region of Rulšam is etymologically related, meaning "heartland".
